Structured deep-focus sessions, on demand.

Cave Day runs virtual coworking sessions designed around the science of focus. Participants join a live video room, the host runs the session in three structured "sprints" with breaks, and people leave the session having actually finished work. The product is the experience of structured presence, not the chat.

To deliver that experience reliably, the platform had to handle live video, scheduling, membership, billing, task tracking, and feedback — all without distracting the user from the focus session itself.

The challenge

Real-time video, scheduling, membership — one calm, integrated experience.

Cave Day required a custom-built digital platform that allowed users to join live video coworking sessions while managing their schedules, tasks, and feedback without distraction. The challenge was integrating live video, time-zone-aware scheduling, recurring bookings, customizable notifications, and gated membership without the platform becoming the next distraction.

OpenSource Technologies was selected to design and develop the entire platform — from the backend infrastructure to the frontend user interaction — while ensuring a highly responsive and scalable experience.

The solution

Real-time infrastructure, smart scheduling APIs, and a custom dashboard.

We integrated a real-time video infrastructure tailored to Cave Day's session format. To handle membership and session scheduling, we developed real-time appointment booking. We built APIs to enhance scheduling flexibility, enable time-zone adjustments, support recurring bookings, and let users customize notification preferences.

A custom dashboard gives users a single surface to manage memberships, browse past sessions, book future ones, and review their focus history. Admins use the same dashboard to manage hosts, schedules, and billing.

We engineered a backend architecture to support the dynamic operations of Cave Day. Admins can manage task submissions, configure media playlists, trigger media with flexible cue types (normal, one-member, multi-member), and define session behavior using weekday-specific exceptions. A survey module collects post-session feedback. The media management system handles content scheduling.

Frontend experience.

The frontend was designed to be frictionless, intuitive, and responsive across all user interactions. We implemented real-time video conferencing so users can join coworking rooms with minimal setup. Before entering a session, users provide basic information including their location and the task they will focus on. Inside the session, they interact via chat, adjust audio / video preferences, and stay focused with structured prompts.

To handle membership and session scheduling, we developed real-time appointment booking. We built APIs to enhance scheduling flexibility, enable time-zone adjustments, support recurring bookings, and let users customize notification preferences. A dashboard gives users access to their appointments, join links, and history. Custom widgets surface countdowns and upcoming sessions.

Performance optimization.

To ensure a consistent and responsive UX, we implemented performance optimizations including code-level improvements and intelligent caching. Caching key API responses and optimizing core logic significantly reduced load times and improved session reliability under concurrent load. The result is stable access at scale.
