An advocacy platform that lets the policy team move at the speed of news.

Bread for the World is a Christian advocacy organization urging US decision-makers to end hunger at home and abroad. The team needed a platform that could publish a campaign in hours, route supporter actions to Congressional offices reliably, and stay accessible to every supporter who cares about hunger policy.

About the client

One of the longest-running US advocacy organizations on hunger.

Bread for the World mobilizes Christian voices, churches, and communities to urge US decision-makers to end hunger. The advocacy is research-backed, policy-specific, and bipartisan in approach. The work is the kind that compounds over decades, not quarters.

The platform serves multiple audiences at once. Individual supporters take actions, give, and learn. Churches and small groups run study series and campaigns. Policy and press teams coordinate with Congressional offices and the media. The system has to feel calm and dignified to all of them.

One platform, many audiences — supporters, churches, policy, press.

The challenge

The challenge

Move at the speed of news without losing accessibility, accuracy, or trust.

Advocacy moves with the news cycle. A bill markup, a budget vote, a policy briefing — the campaign window is hours, not days. The legacy platform needed engineering tickets to publish anything substantive. By the time a campaign was live, the moment had often passed.

The brief asked for three things at once: speed for the policy team, accessibility for every supporter, and rock-solid donation and advocacy-action flows that route reliably to the right Congressional offices. The platform also needed to feel reverent — Bread's voice is calm, faithful, and serious.

The solution

A CMS-driven advocacy platform with accessibility-default UX and reliable action routing.

We rebuilt the platform around a content model the policy and communications teams own end-to-end. New campaigns spin up from templates. Action flows route to Congressional offices through a maintained, monitored integration. Donation flows are short, accessible, and audit-logged. The visual system stays calm.

A featured deliverable

01 · Policy-team-controlled CMS.

Campaigns, position briefs, action pages, and study series all publish through a CMS the policy and communications teams own. New formats use templates, not engineering tickets. The bottleneck moved from "wait for a sprint" to "draft and publish today".

A featured deliverable

02 · Accessible, reverent UX.

WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility default across every template. Calm visual hierarchy. Generous typography. Color and motion that respect the gravity of the subject. Every page legible on a 7-year-old phone, with a screen reader, with low bandwidth.

A featured deliverable

03 · Reliable action and donation routing.

Advocacy actions route to Congressional offices through monitored integrations. Donation flows are short, secure, and accessible. Both have audit trails the team can show donors, board, and auditors without engineering pulls.

The impact

Speed where the policy team needed it. Calm where the supporters needed it.

The policy team publishes campaigns in hours, not days. Supporters take action and donate on accessible flows that work on every device. The platform stays calm even when the news cycle is not.
