About KIPP

KIPP is a non-profit network of 255 college-perparatory, public charter schools educating early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students. The nonprofit KIPP Foundation trains and develops outstanding educators to lead KIPP public schools; provides tools, resources and training for excellent teaching and learning; promotes innovation; and facilitates the exchange of insights and ideas across KIPP and other public schools and organizations.

The Requirement:

KIPP needed a dynamic web application. Their requirements were specific. Consequently, we developed various custom modules in KIPP. The user interface was tailored to the needs of KIPP’s targeted audience. They needed an easy-to-understand interface for all age groups, including children and parents.

Being a public service website, we were committed to creating an ADA (American Disability Act) compliant web application following all the guidelines.

The Solution:

OST experts met with KIPP board members to discuss their project requirements. We understood their needs and expectations in detail. For every requirement, we created a storyboard, wireframe, and workflow. In line with our development best practices, OST experts used the Agile methodology to develop the KIPP project. We developed each custom module in that manner to make future enhancement easy.

Following a diligent research process, we studied user experience and flow. We designed a website that’s ADA compliant with a simple, easy-to-use user interface for all age groups. Our developers took a step further to design a separate screen for each device for better user engagement.

Alumni

Directory

KIPP is for both students and alumni. Our next challenge was to create a directory for all alumni. We built the alumni directory module by using third party Google Places and other APIs.

Alumni Directory contains thousand plus alumni records. Each category and subcategory contains hundreds of alumni records.

With the Smart search functionality we made the search process easy for the user.
